The Tale of Two Taurus: How Conditioning Impacts Our True Essence

If you’re not familiar with Taurus energy, let me introduce you.

Taurus energy is slow and grounded—think of the earth, the steady, unhurried pace of nature.

The earth has a density that makes the physical aspects of life move slowly, but with that slowness comes immense beauty.

The colors, shapes, and textures of nature are all gifts we experience through our senses, and Taurus energy is about savoring those moments.

It’s the essence of the Epicurean: slow, intentional, and deeply rooted in pleasure.

Taurus: Slow, Savoring, Sensual

When I think of myself as a Taurus, I feel like I embody its essence perfectly.

I move through life slowly—so slow, in fact, that my kids and sister often avoid walking with me because they find my pace frustrating.

I take my time with everything, sometimes to the point where I procrastinate and have to face the consequences of my slowness.

I love food, but I struggle with balance, often finding myself overindulging - a typical Taurean trait that lends itself to excess.

Here’s where slowing down would be helpful!!

This is one of the shadow sides of Taurus energy: the tendency to go overboard with pleasures, whether it’s food, shopping, or relaxation.

My sister, also a Taurus, on the other hand, is the complete opposite.

She moves through life at a whirlwind pace, so much so that I often think of her as a tornado—full of energy that hits hard and fast, though not in a negative way.

Her presence is always felt.

She can’t sit still for long, whether it’s through dinner or a simple conversation.

She’s up and moving, cleaning, going for a walk, or playing with the kids.

When we hike, she’s always several steps ahead, leaving me in the dust.

Her energy is always focused on what’s next, moving from one thing to another, while I tend to go with the flow and trust that everything will work out in its own time.

Two Sides of the Same Taurus Coin

As I dive deeper into astrology and share my findings through The Road Map for the Heart, I can’t help but wonder how these ideas will resonate with others—especially those who, like my sister, may not fully identify with the typical descriptions of their sign’s energy.

For instance, my sister’s fast-paced life once seemed at odds with the slow, steady Taurus energy I’ve come to embody.

This brings me to the topic of conditioning.

Both my sister and I have been pulled out of balance, tipping to opposite ends of the scale.

We were raised in an environment where being slow wasn’t just discouraged—it was unacceptable.

Hustle culture ran deep in our family, perfectly embodied in my father’s favorite story: “I came to America with $8 in my pocket... and look at what I built. Let’s see what you can do with all I’ve given you.”

Then there was my mother, whose words like “lazy,” “fatso,” and “disgraceful” were more frequent than “I love you” or “You’re perfect the way you are.” Even now, she occasionally uses these words, though they’ve been replaced with more politically correct terms when talking about her grandchildren.

My sister and I internalized these beliefs in very different ways.

As a freedom-loving numerology life path 5, I rebelled—though not consciously at first.

It was as if I said, “F*ck you! I’m going to go so slow you’ll be beside yourself.”

Despite my efforts to speed up and gain my parents’ approval, I ended up paralyzing myself with that slowness, subconsciously resisting the hustle culture I’d grown up in.

My sister, on the other hand, a compassionate numerology life path 9, embraced the hustle. Her approach was, “You want hustle? I’ll show you hustle.” And for a long time, she operated at full speed, always on the move.

But recently, as she’s embarked on her own healing journey, she’s begun to tap into the slow, grounding nature of Taurus.

She’s learning to embody more of this energy, allowing herself to slow down and savor life’s moments.

It’s been beautiful to witness her shift, finding balance between the hustle and the rest that she once resisted.

Two Tauruses. Two different expressions. Both on a path of healing.

Healing My Relationship With Taurus Energy

As I began working with The Road Map for the Heart, I knew I needed to heal my relationship with Taurus energy.

I decided to lean into it for a year and see where it took me.

That decision stirred up a lot of emotions and beliefs around being slow.

Every time a thought or feeling about it surfaced, I listened.

And as I did, more energy began to flow—not the kind of energy that had me running marathons, but the kind that shifted something inside me.

"The slower I went, the more I accomplished."

By embracing this core essence, the people, places, and opportunities meant for me started to show up.

I found a workout that was so slow and focused on mind-body connection that I loved it. I started to look forward to exercising, and my body changed in ways I never imagined. Part of the foundation of this workout was learning to sprint correctly, which opened up the possibility of running a 5K—something I had never been able to do.

The same happened with my work.

A new marketing program came into my life that asked me to slow down, and this approach began to impact my work in ways that truly reflected who I am.

It was so different from the hustle-driven marketing strategies that never resonated with me.

The Power of Leaning into Your Essence

But before I could fully lean into Taurus energy, I had to heal the limiting beliefs I had inherited from my family and culture.

Once I did, life started to move faster—but in ways that felt aligned with who I truly am.

I believe that when you do any kind of astrology or numerology reading, leaning into the energy that is at the core of who you are can shift things in ways you can’t even imagine.

As I embrace, love, and integrate my slowness, my life moves faster in ways that embody my true essence.

Reflective Questions:

  • How do you identify with the energy of your zodiac sign or numerology life path?

  • Are there any beliefs or conditioning you’ve inherited that impact how you express that energy?

  • What would it look like to lean into the core of who you are and allow things to shift naturally?

This tale of two Tauruses reminds me that we can express the same energy in vastly different ways based on our upbringing and conditioning.

Yet, when we heal those limiting beliefs and truly lean into our essence, life has a way of unfolding beautifully, exactly as it’s meant to.

With Love,

Maria
