Surrender Requires Trust
Surrender Requires Trust: A Lesson in Balance
During a recent podcast conversation with Nina, I encountered a profound truth that has continued to resonate deeply.
We were discussing the interplay of feminine and masculine energy, exploring how these energies influence our sense of safety and trust.
Nina mentioned something her friend Kirsten had shared: that masculine energy embodies trust, the ability to lean back, and the reassurance that our divine feminine can feel safe enough to do what it needs to do.
This insight struck a chord within me.
It illuminated a connection I had long felt but never quite articulated.
I have always viewed my Yoga Nidra practice as a sacred act of surrender—a complete release into the embrace of Mother Earth, to life itself, and to the infinite All that is.
Yoga Nidra allows me to experience surrender as an active choice, a willingness to let go and trust that I will be held by something far greater than myself.
It’s a feeling of being cradled by the universe, supported in my vulnerability.
This conversation reminded me of a key teaching in the Red Thread Healing Paradigm: surrender requires trust.
To truly let go, we must believe that something bigger than ourselves will catch us, hold us, and guide us.
Without trust, surrender is impossible, and without surrender, we remain stuck in the patterns of control and resistance.
The Dance of Masculine and Feminine Energy
What struck me most was the realization that this balance of energies is not just about individual practices like Yoga Nidra but about how we live our lives and relate to ourselves and others.
Feminine energy—creative, intuitive, and nurturing—needs the container of masculine energy to feel safe, supported, and free to flow.
Similarly, masculine energy—structured, grounded, and protective—needs the inspiration and fluidity of the feminine to find purpose and meaning.
It's a symbiotic relationship, one that mirrors the greater truth of wholeness.
Neither energy can thrive in isolation; both are needed to create a balanced, integrated self.
When one is out of balance, it’s felt as disconnection, either from our creativity and intuition or from our sense of safety and groundedness.
Trusting the Masculine, Embracing the Feminine
For many of us, trusting masculine energy—whether within ourselves or in others—can feel vulnerable.
We may carry wounds that make us hesitant to lean back and trust that we will be held.
This hesitancy often leads to an over-reliance on control or an over-expression of one energy at the expense of the other.
But healing begins with recognizing this imbalance and intentionally leaning into trust.
This doesn’t mean blind faith; it means cultivating a relationship with the masculine energy in our lives and within ourselves.
It means asking:
Where can I allow myself to trust more deeply?
How can I create space for surrender in my daily life?
What structures or supports do I need to feel safe enough to release control?
Similarly, embracing feminine energy requires tuning into our intuition, creativity, and capacity for flow.
It asks us to step into the unknown with curiosity, trusting that our inner guidance will lead us.
Wholeness Through Integration
In the Red Thread Healing Paradigm, we speak of the importance of integration—the process of bringing all parts of ourselves into alignment.
The dance between masculine and feminine energy is a core part of this integration.
When we honor both energies and allow them to work together, we step into a fuller, more balanced expression of who we are.
Surrender requires trust.
Trust requires surrender.
The two are inseparable, each fueling and supporting the other.
When we embody this balance, we create a life rooted in both strength and flow, structure and intuition, action and receptivity.
So, let me ask you: where in your life are you being invited to surrender?
And what would it take for you to trust that you will be held?
Take a moment to reflect.
The answers are already within you, waiting for you to lean back and listen.
