Lately, I’ve been asking friends, family, and clients one simple question: Do you have a self-healing practice?

The most common response I get is, "What is that?"

We’re all familiar with the idea of self-care.

It’s woven into modern life, whether we practice it or not.

We know the benefits of moving our bodies, getting a massage, grabbing a coffee with a good friend, walking in nature, or practicing yoga.

Self-care has become almost second nature in conversations about well-being, and even concepts like self-love are gaining mainstream traction.

We’ve learned from voices like Oprah Winfrey and others about the importance of being kind to ourselves and nurturing self-love.

But what about self-healing?

What does that mean, and why is it essential to incorporate it into our everyday lives?

What Is Self-Healing?

Self-healing is about more than just taking care of ourselves.

It’s about bringing ourselves back to balance, realigning with our true self, and making ourselves whole.

While self-care practices help us feel good in the moment—like the peace we find on a walk in nature or the physical relief from a massage—self-healing goes deeper.

It’s about tending to the core of who we are and addressing the parts of ourselves that feel disconnected, unbalanced, or wounded.

Healing involves integrating those parts, gently restoring harmony, and coming home to our authentic selves.

Why Do You Need a Self-Healing Practice?

Just as we need consistent self-care to nourish our bodies and minds, we also need consistent self-healing practices to nourish our hearts and souls.

Without such a practice, the stress and busyness of life can pull us further away from our true selves.
